TWO men in Monmouthshire have been charged with offences surrounding indecent images of children.
Both defendants appeared yesterday (13th October) at Newport Magistrates Court.
Sitki Saban
Demirci of Brook Crescent, Monmouth, appeared charged with taking an indecent photograph or a pseudo-photograph of a child.
He will appear at Newport Crown Court on Thursday 29th October to make a plea.
Justin Lewis of Deepweir, Caldicot, is charged with four counts of possessing indecent images of children.
He is also charged with possessing an extreme pornographic image portraying a sexual act with an animal.
Lewis will appear at Newport Crown Court on Friday 6th November.
In a separate case, an ex-Monmouthshire County Council social worker convicted of possessing and distributing indecent images of a child, will go before a Care Council for Wales panel tomorrow (15th October).
Earlier this year, Christopher Stanley Hole of Wyndham Terrace, Risca, received a two-year prison sentence and was placed indefinitely on the sex offenders’ register and received a sexual harm prevention order.
The Care Council of Wales will now hold a Fitness to Practise Panel to consider charges of professional misconduct.
It is alleged Hole breached the standards of the Code of Practice for Social Care Workers as a result of his crime.
The hearing will take place tomorrow (15th October) at 9.30am at the Care Council for Wales offices in Cardiff.
The Care Council is the social care workforce regulator in Wales. By registering with the Care Council, practitioners and social work students are accountable for their conduct and practice.
Action may be taken where the Fitness to Practise Panel agrees that a practitioner’s practice is found to be impaired.
