Plans to build a two-storey house in the side garden of a Caldicot home have been refused.
An application requesting outline planning permission was discussed by councillors at Monmouthshire's planning committee meeting yesterday (Tuesday 4th February).
The Elan Way site is a corner plot that currently accommodates a garage. The plans suggested both properties would have had separate access with three on-site parking spaces.
Caldicot Town Council recommended the application for refusal on the grounds that the site's access is on a blind corner and is therefore dangerous.
MCC Highways and Welsh Water raised no objections.
Eight neighbour objections were received in relation to the application. Residents stated that the proposed plot was too small and is out of character with the surrounding properties. Parking congestion and restricted visibility were also touched upon by residents.
Officers recommended the outline plans for approval but councillors were concerned about a lack of visibility from the site access onto the road.
