Monmouthshire County Council is to allocate a plot at the 2016 National Eisteddfod in Abergavenny to allow local groups and businesses the chance to demonstrate their gardening and landscaping skills. An area measuring seven by five metres next to the county’s marquee will feature raised flower beds, archways, swinging chairs, pathways, vegetable patches and other aspects with the design left to the participating organisations.

Councillor Phil Hobson, Monmouthshire’s cabinet member with responsibility for the Welsh language said: “This opportunity will give local gardening groups and businesses a chance to shine before 150,000 visitors to The National Eisteddfod. They will be able to display signage to encourage people to support their enterprise.”

The garden will include a busking stage known as “Y Cornel Cwtch” for performers of poetry, live music and dance throughout the week. The National Eisteddfod takes place in Abergavenny’s Castle Meadows from 29th July to 6th August.
