An urgent email was sent to Monmouthshire County Council after it was spotted that the notification for a full closure of the A40 from Raglan to the Wyebridge traffic lights would mean that there would be no access to the top end of Monmouth.
Cllr Jane Lucas was shown the works schedule that would mean the A40 slipway at Cinderhill Street would be closed.
She contacted Gareth Sage at MCC who immediately contacted his counterpart at SWTRA, the body responsible for the A40 resurfacing roadworks to point out that there would be no access to Wyesham and the top end of Monnow Street given that there is a current southerly one-way system in place to accommodate the Welsh Water works
”We now have the answer that the northbound Cinderhill Street on slip will remain open,” said Gareth.
The A40 is due to see overnight closures between 8pm and 6am for resurfacing works
