A diverse range of talent was showcased at the Junior Monmouth’s Got Talent competition held at Bridges Community Centre last Wednesday 7th March. Overmonnow and Osbaston schools joined the Monmouth Boys’ and Monmouth Girls’ prep schools in entertaining the audience with song and dance routines, musical pieces including a barbershop trio and a card trickster!

Organised by Bridges Youth Committee, which this year is made up of a group of students from Monmouth Boys School and Art Teacher Sheila Mone, the difficult task of judging was given to Nyasha Katsande, Georgina Feltham-White, Sophie Williams and John Geraghty.

The youth committee planned the event, from designing posters and certificates to contacting schools and asking local businesses to donate prizes for the raffle.

Jeff from MJ’s café generously provided delicious refreshments and his hot dogs went down a storm with the hungry participants. The judges had the unenviable task of finding a winner to go through to the main event at The Blake Theatre.

Third place was awarded to Harry Guerin of Monmouth Boys’ prep School, with his guitar solo, second place went to Osbaston’s William Chalk who played piano, and the winner that will perform on the Blake Theatre stage on 21st March was boys’ prep school pupil Henry Trick-Eagles with his amazing card tricks.
