The 33rd Monmouth Festival came to a
climatic close with a trip down memory lane listening to 80s band China Crisis.
Fronted by founder-members Eddie Lundon and Gary Daly, their hits “Wishful Thinking’ and ‘Christian’ brought back memories for the large crowd.
Considering their 2015 tour kicks off in September with tickets selling for £16.50, this appearance at the festival was good value for money for the many punters who enjoyed their set.
The week had been a roller-coaster of musical entertainment for fans of all genres, with the fringe performances proving popular at the Three Horseshoes and St Mary’s Church.
Even the Savoy Theatre held a free evening of entertainment with a sing-along to the 1978 film ‘Grease’, where the lyrics of the songs have now passed into legend.
Melanie Ralph, co-chair of the festival said that she wanted to thank the whole community for coming down and supporting the festival every night: “ We have covered our costs this year which means that the festival can go ahead next year.
“We can now start planning for next year and we hope to make it bigger and better.
“I am grateful for the help from all our volunteers without whom the festival would not be possible.
“We had the biggest amount collected on the last night, thanks to the generousity of the community of Monmouth”.
