SIR, There is a brilliant opportunity for the Dixton site. A community-based tourist services development at Dixton would make a wonderful gateway for visitors arriving in Wales from the Midlands and the North. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to display panoramic photographs of a part of Wales that few visitors have ever seen; to showcase the towns, rivers, castles, walks, holiday accommodation and the renowned food markets and restaurants. Advertising alone would help much of the financing; a cafe to greet travellers with locally produced food, and information about the many holiday activities. There are theatres, crafts and arts that are often within 20 miles. Leading on from east Wales, the  other tourist areas of Wales can also benefit from this location. Let Monmouth take a leaf out of the excellent tourist information site at Church Stretton, (well worth a visit) which is a circular eco building with a grass roof.  The farmer-run services at Tebay on the M6 and Gloucester services on the M5 (http://www.gloucesterservices.com">www.gloucesterservices.com) are also a perfect example of a destination for travellers to find refreshment and information about the locality. Watching a film from a balloon trip over the county would highlight the Wye Valley and the lovely Black Mountains and River Usk and delight the cafe customers. Rosie Humphreys (Usk)
