A PAIR of Monmouth fundraisers were welcomed home on Wednesday (7th September) after cycling 645 miles from John O’Groats.
Their celebrations were only temporary however, as they made an early start out of town with 250 miles left to reach Land’s End.
The mammoth effort is being made by Whitchurch’s Sue Hughes and Chris Lloyd in aid of the Society for the Welfare of Horses and Ponies (SWHP).
Their journey began on 28th August at the furthest north point of the Great British mainland, and it is hoped that they will reach the southern-most point of Cornwall by early next week.
SWHP is the only equine charity in south Wales rescuing horses and ponies, rehabilitating them, and finding them new and caring homes.
The pair have so-far raised £510, receiving amongst online donations, support from strangers met along the route. You can sponsor them at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-web/fundraiser/showFundraiserPage.action?userUrl=swhp.co.uk&faId=704451&isTeam=true, or text SWHP22 (plus the amount, max £10) to 70070.
