MADAM, On behalf of the Rotary Clubs of Monmouth, Chepstow and Ross on Wye, I am writing to express our thanks for the support given by the Monmouthshire Beacon for our "Walk The Wye" sponsored walk, along the banks of the Wye on Sunday 10th May. The three-page feature which appeared in the Monmouthshire Beacon in the run up to the walk undoubtedly made a major contribution to the success of the event. The composition of the pages, which included an entry form, designed by your team, was excellent, as was the support of all the local businesses. Please pass on our thanks to the local businesses that supported the pages. Over 330 walkers took part, and we hope to have raised in excess of £9,000 when all the sponsorship money is in. This has been the 7th consecutive year that the Rotary Clubs have organised the Walk The Wye event, in which time more than £61,000 has been raised for breast cancer research. All the money raised this year will be split between the breast cancer research team at Velindre (75 per cent) and other charities supported by the Rotary Clubs of Monmouth, Chepstow and Ross on Wye (25 per cent).
