A PARTY will be held at Bridges Community Centre this Friday to raise funds for a sensory garden for people living with dementia.

The event, organised by a team from Monnow Vale Health and Social Care Facility, is part of a project aiming to build a garden at specialist residential home, Severn View in Chepstow.

When complete, the home’s garden will allow active involvement for residents including gardening, enjoying wildlife, strolling the specially-designed walkways or taking tea with friends and family.

For people living with dementia, a garden helps them reconnect with the surrounding world.

The Fun, Funky Friday party will begin on 8th April at 8pm and will run until midnight.

Tickets cost £5 in advance or £7 on the door.

For more information, call Bridges Community Centre on 01600 715638 or Monnow Vale on 01600 773113.

As part of fundraising efforts, 11 Monmouthshire County Council staff members are getting ready to tackle the UK three peaks in 24 hours challenge in June.

Team members completed the Abergavenny three peaks last weekend in preparation, and on average the team are clocking up around 20 miles a week in

training.

The team will also climb the English leg of the three peaks challenge, Scafell Pike, at the end of the month as a practice run.

Fundraisers are aiming to raise £30,000 to build the garden.
