AN independent school in Tutshill has been put up for sale.
St John's-on-the-Hill needs to be sold after it was apparently revealed to parents the school is struggling financially.
Parents were told in a letter last Friday (29th May) that the school had received several offers of purchase.
In the letter, chairman of the board of governors at the school, Stephen Willis, said: "The governors wish to again provide an update regarding the future plans of the school.
"The school has now received firm purchase offers from a well respected co-educational independent senior school and a commercial educational
operation.
'These offers are now being considered. Due to technicalities surrounding these offers and the process itself we will not be in a position to announce a successful offer until the middle of next week.
"We recognise the uncertainty this process continues to bring, but can assure you that governors, the senior management team and the school's professional advisers are fully engaged in this process.
"We therefore ask for your continued support."
St John's-on-the-Hill caters to children from nursery age through to 13-year-olds and takes children from Newport, Gloucestershire and Monmouthshire.
