A PUBLIC meeting has been organised by a campaign group to discuss proposals for two 15m chimneys for a thermal waste plant in Portskewett.
The group Severnside Together Opposing Pollution (STOP) will hold the meeting at Sudbrook Sports and Social Club on Thursday 11th January at 7pm and has invited all interested parties.
The proposed flute stacks would be required to facilitate the emission and dispersion of exhaust gases from the thermal treatment plant, which would process up to 20,000 tonnes of non hazardous materials per year.
The proposal has encountered significant resistance with hundreds of objections to the planning application submitted to Monmouthshire County Council (MCC).
Objections have also come from MP David Davies and AM Nick Ramsay while Chepstow Town Council unanimously opposed the proposal at its last meeting.
