CONSERVATIVE councillor Paul Pavia has been elected mayor of Chepstow.
Cllr Pavia, Chepstow town councillor for Larkfield Ward, was elected mayor at Chepstow Town Council’s annual meeting on Wednesday (25th May) evening.
He took his declaration of acceptance of office for the next year, saying that the new role was a “huge honour”.
“Over the last six years I have grown a huge affinity and love for this town, and as far as I am concerned Chepstow is my home now,” he said.
“As long as the citizens of this town continue to elect me as councillor I will ensure this town continues to thrive.”
He also paid tribute to outgoing mayor councillor Dale Rooke, who he presented with a badge of past office, and outgoing deputy mayor councillor Hilary Beach.
Cllr Rooke said: “I would like to thank everyone for your support for the last year.
“It has been an honour and a privilege to serve the people of Chepstow and I would like to offer my humble thanks to everyone for their help.”
Cllr Marc Le Peltier, councillor for St Mary’s, was elected deputy mayor.
