YEAR 1 pupils from St John's-on-the-Hill visited Chepstow Library this week dressed as their favourite characters from popular children's books.

The visit began with Chepstow librarian Sue Wallbank reading a pop-up book called 'The very lazy ladybird'. Sue then explained how libraries supply an amazing range of genres for all ages.

She then read another book called The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. The children enjoyed chanting along to the story. Sue then gave the children a tour of the library and introduced them to the extensive range of fiction and non-fiction books, videos, DVDs, talking books, CDs, magazines and newspapers.

Pupils were then given time to explore the library and very quietly and carefully shared books with their friends.

Children who brought along their library cards also had time to select some books to take home to share with family and friends.
