MADAM,
The Trellech and Mitchel Troy groups met once again on Sunday 5th August to clear the roads and verges of the motorists discarded food packaging, drink cans, empty bottles and anything else that had been thrown in to the hedgerows since April.
Over 35 orange bags were collected on this occasion proving to the volunteers that the national disease is getting worse and not better. A motorist actually stopped on this occasion and asked one of the volunteers whether she paid council tax, as the council were supposed to clear road sides and verges etc. A suitably worded and polite response was given to the ignorant driver concerned, who clearly had no idea on the long term cost to the taxpayer of local clearance programmes.
The next clearance programme will take place in late October and additional volunteers are very welcome.
