A 98-YEAR-OLD proved there is no excuse not to vote after she made her way down to the polling station at Monmouth Leisure Centre last Thursday (7th May).
Marian Irwin-Singer still votes in person and did so for the 19th time last week.
The great-grandmother was accompanied by son Jeremy Irwin-Singer and daughter Fiona Jenkins as she placed her all-important vote into the ballot box.
Mrs Irwin-Singer said: "Its important to vote because we need to know what the government is up to.
"I would like to see more houses go up, better healthcare and education."
Mrs Irwin-Singer has nearly always voted for the same party and even went into labour after she voted in the 1951 general election.
Mrs Irwin-Singer, who worked as a house mistress in Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls, said it was "good" that more young people are voting and that people should always have their say.
