MADAM,

Having moved from Surrey where there are very stringent parking rules, I am appalled at the parking in Monmouth.  Motorists park on single yellow lines, double yellow lines and double park while pedestrians never seem to look for traffic and launch themselves across the road.

I love living in Monmouth, and use my car as little as possible but the idea of enlarging the pavement at the “pinch” is derisible. The additional pollution to pedestrians and shoppers alike while cars are stationery and idling will add to the pollution problem in Monmouth which is due to the high volume of traffic using the A40.

There are queues now due to parking on yellow lines in Priory Street and if the proposed plan goes ahead this will be much worse, motorists will not come to shop in Monmouth and this will not help revenue for the town.

Please Town Council think again!
