MADAM, Further to the Beacon's coverage last week of the success of the Monmouth Rotary Club's Walk the Wye event, Harry Dixon must be mentioned for his hard work that day. This nine year old pupil at the Grange Prep School in Monmouth managed to secure £60 in sponsorship for the Velindre breast cancer research team. He did the walk with his mother and was insistent that he walked the whole full 16.5 mile course from Chepstow to Monmouth as recorded on the GPS. Harry reported that although it was a challenge, "we were kept going by cake at the Old Station in Tintern, crisps and lemonade at the Boat Inn in Redbrook, and with chocolate biscuits and Maltesers from Rotary members who cheered us at every station along the way!" He added: "We had a really great day!" Bob Peake (Monmouth)
