At the World Indoor Bowls Championships held in Jersey last week, Chepstow's Mike Dick represented Wales in a field of world class bowlers from England, Wales. Scotland, Ireland, Canada, Holland, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.
Players played a round robin league before entering the knockout stages.
Mike played extremely well all week and qualified for the Quarter Final knock-out stages from his round robin group.
In his quarter final he beat the Dutch champion and then played Simon Martin, the Irishman and British Isles champion, in the semi-final.
After winning the first set, Mike lost on the last end of a tie break in an extremely close game.
In the Mixed Pairs event, Mike with Kerry Packwood from Torfaen only just failed to qualify for the semi-finals. A good week for Mike and bowls in Chepstow.
