Gwent County League Division Three - Sudbrook CC?8 Mardy 1
SUDBROOK CC’s management team of Daryl Cann and Drew Main were far from disappointed after seeing their strike force click at home to relegation-threatened Mardy.
“It was another dominant performance from us and we could have scored double figures.
“After last week’s excellent cup result we looked a team rejuvenated and played some excellent football from start to finish.
“Our message to the players was simple - go out and enjoy yourself and concentrate on a collective performance rather than worrying what the other teams were doing. We had a strong squad available and everyone was confident.
“We completely controlled the game and Mardy never had a foothold in the match.
“What was pleasing was that all of our strikers scored.
Keenan Perrett hit an excellent hat-trick, Rob Thorn and Steve Wilson grabbed two each after midfielder Ben Miles put us ahead.
“After a run of difficult games away from home, being back on our decent pitch helped us and we now go into the seasonal break in a very strong position helped by second-placed Machen’s defeat.”
Sudbrook head the table by eight points with a goal difference of +52 – 11 greater than Machen and have an Amateur Cup quarter final home match against Villa Dino scheduled for 7th January.
Meanwhile in Division Two, Mathern lost 4-2 at New Inn.
