A GOLFING father and son from Monmouth have just missed out on an expenses-paid trip of a lifetime to Morocco.
Accountant Paul Mitchell, 62, a 16-handicapper, and son Alex, a 27-year-old estate agent with a 17-handicap - both of whom are members at Rolls of Monmouth - just failed to secure one of the three qualifying spots up for grabs at the Morocco Matchplay southern regional pairs final at the Manor House GC, Castle Combe, in Wiltshire.
The pair missed out on the chance to fight it out with 32 golfers in a variety of categories at the grand final, held next year.
The Moroccan National Tourist Office’s director for UK and Ireland, Amine Boughaleb, said: "Last year was the centenary of golf in Morocco and, fittingly, the first year our country was the title sponsor of the HowDidiDo Matchplay. The event was such a huge success, however, for both the participants and Morocco, that we were only too happy to renew our association with the competition.
"We are confident that the excellent facilities on offer at both the hotel and golf course will leave the lucky 32 golfers keen to return to see more of our beautiful country."
