CHEPSTOW Town scored a 3-0 away win under the floodlights at high-flying Aberbargoed Buds on Friday night.
Goals from Harry Waterhouse, Ash Palmer and Mallachi Graham secured the points for the Jockeys, who led 2-0 at the break, with the result lifting them to 11th in Ardal South East.
But Town’s 2nds were beaten 4-1 in midweek away to derby rivals Caldicot 2nds, with the Swans reserves doubling up on Saturday with a 6-1 hammering of visitors Abergavenny 2nds to go third in the FAW Reserves South East League.
Chepstow-based Thornwell R&W were also on fire at home at the weekend, blasting Pontnewydd United 4-0 in Gwent Premier 2.
Ten man Usk Town 2nds saw their hopes of finishing top of group A in the Candour Talent Gwent Central League Benevolent Cup take a blow with a 6-1 thrashing by hosts Talgarth Town on Saturday.
The hosts broke the deadlock in the 18th minute when veteran forward Steve Potter headed home a Ben Sharman cross after a corner was only partially cleared by the defence.
The lead was doubled within 60 seconds after Mark Walsh's header found the back of the net from a Tom Sharman-Jones corner before Jake Malyn was shown a red card by referee Gareth Ratcliffe following an altercation with Walsh.
The Monmouthshire club halved the deficit in first-half stoppage time when Kristien Harrison beat Tom Beavan in the Royals' goal from over 30 yards out.
But the Breconshire hosts regained their two-goal buffer five minutes after the interval when Will Luckhurst met a Sharman-Jones corner with a diving header at the far post, before Potter's 55th minute cross delivered from the left was converted by Ben Sharman.
The Royals went nap when Polish forward Grzes Chodnicki slid the ball past Usk custodian Marc Cordell in the 73rd minute. And the scoring was completed four minutes later when Tom Francis' cross from the right was met by a Sharman-Jones header at the far post.
But Talgarthwill need to win their final group match when they travel to Panteg Reserves, and hope that Usk 2nds slip-up when they host Pontnewynydd AFC 2nds, if they are to reach the final.
East Gwent one leaders Underwood were humbled 7-1 away to mid-table Undy 3rds, but EG2 table-toppers Chepstow Town 3rds won out 4-2 at home to third-placed Tintern Abbey, Harry Martyn firing a brace for the visitors.
