Local professional boxer Liam O’Hare, who grew up in Monmouth and now lives in Hereford, continues his boxing success with a unanimous points decision over Mikey Byles. Ex Ballet dancer, O’Hare, who is re-scheduled to fight a 10 round bout with Tom Brennan for the vacant Midland Middleweight title at the Meca, Swindon on April 13, proved too strong and skilful for his very tough Warwickshire opponent. Talking about his opponent, O’Hare said: “Mikey is a real warrior. He was a tough, experienced opponent who made me work hard for the win. I didn’t sustain any injuries so it was the perfect preparation for next month’s title fight.” Cannock’s Excelsior Sporting Club’s exclusive St Patrick Day event, saw both boxers give their all for six pulsating - if one sided - rounds in front of a sold out crowd. Among the VIPs was the former Irish American heavyweight contender Gerry Cooney, who had that famous world title clash with Larry Holmes. He had lots of praise and advice for the young Hereford boxer. Liam, 27, the Midland Super middleweight Champion, remains undefeated and is looking for a big turnout from his supporters for his upcoming title fight in Swindon. His main sponsor, Furniture.co.uk is proving free transport from Hereford and Ross, so get in touch directly with Liam at [email protected] for tickets. You can follow Liam’s progress on social media as he prepares for the fight. Let’s get behind our local man so he can bring back a second Midland title to Hereford and go on to the England and British titles.
