FROZEN pitches caused havoc with fixtures for the second week running, with nearly every local rugby and football match called off.

One game that did go ahead on Saturday saw Chepstow 1st XV beat visitors Oakdale 39-19.

The win lifted them to third in WRU East 3, within two points of Fleur de Lys and the second promotion slot.

But Monmouth's trip to Nelson in East 1, and Usk's journey to Croesyceiliog in East 2 were both off.

Football-wise, Monmouth Town saw their Gwent Senior Cup home clash with RTB Ebbw Vale scrubbed, which they will try and play this Saturday, while high-flying Ardal South East outfit Chepstow Town had to postpone Friday night's trip to county rivals Goytre.

Most teams won't have played for over a month by the time they get back to action, but hopefully players can lace up their boots again this weekend.
