MONMOUTH Squash Club has seen a significant rise in new players and memberships ranging from young to old.
With the help of Monmouthshire County Council and Sport Wales funding, the club has been able to provide local schools with mini squash taster sessions and an introduction to the game.
This has given great exposure to the game and also to the squash club.
The taster sessions have channelled the pupils towards the club and increased membership numbers. Monmouth Squash Club junior sessions run every Tuesdays from 4.14-5pm (beginners), 5-6pm (intermediate), 6-7pm (advanced).
Continuing with junior squash, there was a development tournament run by Squash Wales on Saturday 14th March at Newport Squash Club.
Five juniors from Monmouth represented the club with pride and played some outstanding squash.
One of Monmouth's talented juniors, Cameron Ogilvie came 2nd, a top effort considering there were entries from all across south Wales.
Monmouth Squash Club also hold a Men and Ladies club night which runs from 7-9pm on Tuesdays, where all abilities are welcome.
The club now has three adult league teams, with the hopes of putting in a fourth team as well next season.
As things stand, Monmouth A team are top of the table, challenging for promotion, as are the B team a division below.
The C team are also holding their own and continuing to impress.
